A Long Way Down ¬ DVD

Four people meet on New Year’s Eve and form a surrogate family to help one another weather the difficulties of their lives.

After watching the trailer for “A Long Way Down” two words stick out in my mind: charming and delightful. Hopefully I’ll be able to use other positive descriptors when the film hits UK theaters on March 21st.

“A Long Way Down” is an adaptation of the Nick Hornby novel of the same name. This is another in the long line of Hornby adaptations which include films like “About a Boy”, “High Fidelity”, and “Fever Pitch.” The film is being directed by Pascal Chaumeil who has a slew of French films under his belt.

The most exciting aspect of this film, at least for me, is the cast list. The movie stars Pierce Brosnan, Aaron Paul, Imogen Poots, Rosamund Pike, and Sam Neill. I’ve never realized how badly I wanted to see Brosnan and Neill act together before watching this trailer. Seeing them interact was like watching two of my childhood icons come together.

Then there’s Aaron Paul who is surrounded by a world of potential thanks to his fantastic run on “Breaking Bad”. Hopefully this will be one of the projects that’ll allow him to stretch his acting muscles and show what else he is capable of.

“A Long Way Down” follows the journey of four individuals who happen to meet on a rooftop they all planned to jump off of. Check out the trailer below. No US release date has been announced yet.
